  • Hospital activity related to the treatment of gastroenteritis has risen slightly since last week (Week 15, April 10–16). It is higher than that observed in 2016 during the same period.

  • Activity reported by SOS Médecins regarding gastroenteritis is generally trending downward despite some regular spikes. In week 16, activity levels are lower than those of the previous two years during the same period.

  • According to data from the virology laboratories at the region’s university hospitals, rotavirus is very frequently identified as the cause of gastroenteritis in the region.

  • Activity related to acute diarrhea is low in the Grand Est region, according to the Sentinelles network.

  • Surveillance in elderly care facilities: Four clusters of acute gastroenteritis cases have been reported since the April 13 update, for a total of 131 episodes since the start of seasonal surveillance on October 1, 2016.

Asthma surveillance

  • In emergency departments, asthma-related activity has fluctuated over the past 4 weeks but remains within the ranges observed during the same period in previous years.

  • Asthma-related activity among SOS Médecins associations follows the same trend as that in emergency departments. However, in week 16, it tends to remain lower than levels observed during the same period in the two previous years.

Allergy Monitoring

  • Since Week 01, allergy-related activity has been increasing in outpatient care.

  • According to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), the allergy risk associated with plane tree pollen is moderate in the Bas-Rhin department, while it is low in other departments.

Mortality surveillance
