Key Points

Whooping Cough

  • A resurgence of pertussis in France and Europe over the past several months;

  • a sharp increase in emergency room visits and SOS Médecins consultations for pertussis since April–May 2024 in the Grand Est region;

  • sharp rise in the number of PCR tests reported by the 3-labos laboratory network, with an increase in the positivity rate, particularly among younger people.

Chikungunya, dengue, and Zika

  • From May 1 to June 26, 2024: 44 imported cases of dengue fever in the Grand Est region;

  • No cases of chikungunya or Zika virus infection have been reported in the region since May 1, 2024.

COVID-19

  • Increase in emergency room visits and SOS Médecins consultations for COVID-19 since early June in the Grand Est region.
