Epidemiological surveillance in the Alsace region. Update as of September 10, 2015.
Highlights
In week 36, allergy-related activity at the SOS Médecins Strasbourg association increased compared to previous weeks (43 diagnoses vs. 29 in week 35), representing 3.3% of total diagnoses. Activity at the SOS Médecins Mulhouse association remained within the usual range (12 diagnoses, or 2% of total diagnoses).
Asthma-related activity at both the SOS Médecins Strasbourg and Mulhouse associations remained within the usual range, with 9 diagnoses made by each association. In week 36, this represented 0.7% of total diagnoses for the Strasbourg association and 1.5% of total diagnoses for the Mulhouse association.
According to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), the allergy risk associated with grass and nettle pollen is very low in the Bas-Rhin department. In the Haut-Rhin department, the allergy risk is very low for grass and ragweed pollen, and low for nettle pollen.
In week 36, the number of weekly diagnoses of heat-related conditions was very low for both SOS Médecins associations. Specifically, 4 diagnoses were recorded for the SOS Médecins Strasbourg association (representing 0.3% of total diagnoses) and 3 for the Mulhouse association (representing 0.5% of total diagnoses).
According to available data, no unusual increase in mortality has been observed in Alsace over the past 6 weeks. Since the time lag for reporting death data exceeds 7 days, data for week 36 are currently being consolidated.
