Key Points

A heat wave has been affecting the region since Monday, June 19, 2017, prompting Météo France to issue an orange alert for the region’s six departments.

  • Since the start of the heat wave: There has been an upward trend in heat-related medical consultations within the OSCOUR® network. No significant change has been observed in the SOS Médecins network.

  • For June 20, 2017:

    • - 18 emergency room visits for heat-related illnesses across all age groups; these visits primarily involved those under 15 (50%), those aged 15–44 (17%), and those over 75 (22%). Approximately 11% of emergency room visits for heat-related illnesses across all age groups were followed by hospitalization.

    • - 7 SOS Médecins consultations for heat-related illnesses across all age groups; these cases involved people aged 15–44 (n=3), those under 15 (n=2), and those over 75 (n=1).

Also worth noting is an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in four facilities in the region (gyms and stadiums).
