Heat Wave and Health Alert System in the Centre-Val de Loire Region. Epidemiological Update as of June 22, 2017.

Key Points

The six departments of the Centre-Val de Loire region have been under an orange alert since 4:00 p.m. on June 19, 2017.

  • Since the start of the heat wave: The trend shows a decline in heat-related medical calls to the SOS Médecins and OSCOUR® networks. For the latter, however, call volumes remain high.

  • For yesterday:

    • - 22 emergency room visits for heat-related illnesses across all age groups; these visits primarily involved people aged 75 and older (59%). Approximately 56% of these cases resulted in hospitalization (81% of those aged 75 and older);

    • - 5 SOS Médecins consultations for heat-related conditions; these cases primarily involved those under 15 (n=2) and those aged 15–44 (n=2).
