COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Centre-Val de Loire Region as of January 14, 2022

Key Points

In Week 01, virological indicators rose for the 13th consecutive week.

  • Increase in the incidence rate (IR) across all departments (+28%): from 1,452.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Indre to 2,681.3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Eure-et-Loir

  • IR rising among those under 15 (2,395.9; +153%) and among those aged 15–44 (3,582.9; +83%)

  • Increase in the positivity rate (PR) in the general population and among symptomatic individuals. Among those under 15, the PR is declining, likely due to increased testing of close contacts among students in schools.

  • Increase in emergency department visits for suspected COVID-19, hospitalizations, and admissions to critical care for COVID-19

  • 90.7% of screened tests showed a profile consistent with the Omicron variant in S01
