The occurrence of sporadic outbreaks of cutaneous trichophytosis among wrestlers (tinea corporis gladiatorum) has been known, particularly since 1992. Most of these outbreaks have been reported in college teams in the United States. In 2004, a Japanese article reported 11 cases within a university judo team. In October 2004, the dermatology department at the CHR in Orléans was contacted by the management of the France Judo Center in Orléans to manage an outbreak of cutaneous trichophytosis. The large number of affected athletes, the complexity of care, and the likelihood of a nationwide epidemic have prompted us to report our experience.
