Key Points
Bronchiolitis: Epidemic phase on the rise. Very sharp increase (doubling) in visits to hospital emergency departments compared to the previous week, accounting for 23.7% of visits with a coded diagnosis among children under 2 years of age (the most common condition). Same trend observed in data from the SOS Médecins associations (+56%, n = 25). The epidemic is occurring earlier than in the past two seasons. Increase in the proportion of RSV-positive samples at the virology laboratories of the Brest University Hospital (positivity rate = 35% (25/72)) and the Rennes University Hospital (positivity rate = 35% (30/85)).
Asthma: Activity remains above seasonal averages, particularly affecting children under 5 years of age. Co-circulation with rhinoviruses and enteroviruses identified in respiratory specimens analyzed at the virology laboratories of the Brest University Hospital (CHRU) and the Rennes University Hospital (CHU).
Influenza and influenza-like illness: Low activity. Sporadic detection of influenza A virus in respiratory specimens analyzed at the virology laboratories of the Brest University Hospital and the Rennes University Hospital since mid-October.
