News - Measles Outbreak in the Rennes Area

The measles outbreak continues in the Rennes area. A co-circulation of viruses causing symptoms similar to those of measles is suspected. Since January 13, 2014, an outbreak of measles, a notifiable disease (DO), has occurred at a school in Rennes where, following an epidemiological investigation, it was found that 40% of the children had not been vaccinated against the disease. No cases of measles have been reported among vaccinated children. To date, there have been 66 cases, including 38 within this school and 28 secondary cases outside the school. We strongly recommend that you report any suspected cases to the ARS Bretagne Regional Health Surveillance and Emergency Platform at the following phone number: 09 74 50 00 09, and offer measles vaccination.
