Health Surveillance in Brittany. Epidemiological Update as of July 24, 2013.

News

As part of the phytoplankton monitoring program (REPHY), the latest analyses published on July 18 by IFREMER reveal the presence of lipophilic toxins (DSP) and amnesic toxins (in two deep-water sectors) at levels exceeding regulatory thresholds in several areas of Finistère. Furthermore, these analyses also indicate high levels of Alexandrium cells in samples taken in Brest Harbor, even though, for now, the results for PSP paralyzing toxins remain below the health safety threshold in the sampled areas. However, it cannot be ruled out that the alert threshold in Brest Harbor may be exceeded in the coming days or weeks.Any poisoning related to the consumption of shellfish, like any outbreak of foodborne illness, must be reported to the Operational Center for Receiving and Regulating Reports (CORRSi) of the ARS Bretagne at 09 74 50 00 09 (24 hours a day—including weekends).
