Influenza and influenza-like illnessEpidemic activity (ascending phase). Slowdown in the increase in calls to SOS Médecins (+10%), accounting for 10% of coded diagnoses. Continued rise in indicators tracked in hospital emergency departments (+136%). Early epidemic amid school holidays. High activity in primary care: incidence rate of influenza-like illnesses estimated at 282 per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [147, 417], unconsolidated Sentinelles data).Viral circulation (type A) according to the virology laboratories at the Brest (positivity rate = 19% out of 139 samples) and Rennes (positivity rate = 23% out of 131 samples) university hospitals. First isolation of type B virus in Rennes.

Severe cases of influenzaSince week 44/2016, 8 severe cases of influenza, ranging in age from 32 to 82 years, have been admitted to intensive care in Brittany. All were infected with a type A virus and had at least one risk factor targeted by vaccination.

Bronchiolitis (children under 2 years of age)Epidemic activity (rising phase). Another increase in emergency department visits (+22%); the most common condition, accounting for 21% of diagnoses in children under 2 years of age.Viral circulation is decreasing according to data from the Virology Laboratory at Rennes University Hospital (positivity rate = 20% out of 131 samples) and increasing according to data from the virology laboratories at Brest University Hospital (positivity rate = 16% out of 111 samples).

Gastroenteritis: Epidemic activity. Decrease in SOS Médecins consultations, accounting for 7% of coded diagnoses across all age groups. New increase in emergency department visits across all age groups except for 5- to 14-year-olds. Activity across all age groups remains above seasonal averages in both sources.Low activity in primary care: incidence rate of acute diarrhea estimated at 115 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (95% CI [26, 204], unconsolidated Sentinelles data). Circulation of Norovirus and Adenovirus.
