Key points

Bronchiolitis (under 1 year old)

  • End of the epidemic. Increase in visits to hospital emergency rooms and SOS Médecins consultations. Virology laboratories at university hospitals in the region report a decrease in RSV detection. Other viruses capable of causing bronchiolitis are circulating, notably rhinoviruses.

COVID-19

  • Low activity.

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • Epidemic activity. Decrease in the number of emergency room visits and the rate of SOS Médecins consultations for influenza and influenza-like illness. Case numbers are declining across all age groups. Decrease in the detection of influenza A virus according to data from the virology laboratories at the Rennes University Hospital and the Brest University Hospital.

Gastroenteritis

  • High activity. Decrease in the rate of SOS Médecins consultations and the number of emergency room visits across all age groups.

ENT conditions

  • High activity. In S04, among children under 5, ENT conditions accounted for 11.0% of emergency room visits (compared to 11.6% in S03) and 48% of SOS Médecins consultations (compared to 45% in S03). Increase in the detection rate of rhinoviruses/enteroviruses by the Virology Laboratory at Rennes University Hospital (positivity rate of 9.3% in S04 compared to 7.1% in S03) and decrease in the detection rate at Brest University Hospital (positivity rate of 4.5% in S04 compared to 9.4% in S03).

Pneumonias

  • Decrease in emergency room visits and SOS Médecins consultations for pneumonia among adults.

Asthma

  • High activity. Decrease in SOS Médecins consultations and slight increase in emergency department visits, all ages.
