Key points

Bronchiolitis (under 1 year of age)

  • Epidemic activity. Stable emergency department visits and an increase in SOS Médecins consultations. Decrease in RSV detection according to the virology laboratories at the Brest and Rennes University Hospitals. Other viruses capable of causing bronchiolitis are circulating, notably rhinoviruses.

COVID-19

  • Low activity. The proportion of associated cases (all ages) is similar to that observed in 2024. Decrease in SARS-CoV-2 detection in respiratory specimens analyzed by the Virology Laboratory at the Rennes University Hospital and stable detection by the laboratory at the Brest University Hospital.

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • Epidemic activity. Sharp increase in the number of SOS Médecins consultations and emergency room visits for influenza and influenza-like illness. Increase in the detection of influenza A virus according to data from the Virology Laboratories at the Brest University Hospital and the Rennes University Hospital.

Gastroenteritis

  • Moderate activity. Decrease in emergency room visits and SOS Médecins consultations across all age groups.

ENT conditions

  • High activity related to ENT conditions. In week 49, among children under 5, ENT conditions accounted for 16.4% of emergency room visits and 55.8% of SOS Médecins consultations. Increase in the detection rate of rhinoviruses/enteroviruses by the virology laboratories at the Brest University Hospital (positivity rate of 19.3% in S50 compared to 7.3% in S49) and the Rennes University Hospital (positivity rate of 19.1% in S50 compared to 15.9% in S49).
