Key points

Bronchiolitis (under 1 year of age)

  • Epidemic activity. Stable numbers of visits to hospital emergency departments and SOS Médecins clinics. Continued increase in RSV detection according to the virology laboratories at the Brest and Rennes University Hospitals. Other viruses capable of causing bronchiolitis are circulating, notably rhinoviruses.

COVID-19

  • Low activity. The proportion of associated cases (all ages) is similar to that observed in 2024. Stable detection of SARS-CoV-2 in respiratory specimens analyzed by the virology laboratories at the Rennes University Hospital and the Brest University Hospital.

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • Epidemic activity. Sharp increases in the number of SOS Médecins consultations and emergency room visits for influenza and influenza-like illness. Increase in the detection of influenza A virus according to data from the virology laboratories at the Brest University Hospital and the Rennes University Hospital.

Gastroenteritis

  • Moderate activity. Increase in emergency room visits and stable numbers of SOS Médecins consultations across all age groups.

ENT conditions

  • High activity related to ENT conditions. In week 49, among children under 5, ENT conditions accounted for 15.1% of emergency room visits and 53.7% of SOS Médecins consultations. Decrease in the detection rate of rhinoviruses/enteroviruses by the virology laboratories at the Brest University Hospital (positivity rate of 7.3% in Week 49 compared to 13% in Week 48) and the Rennes University Hospital (positivity rate of 15.9% in Week 49 compared to 20.5% in Week 48).
