Headlines - Vaccination in 2012

As it does every year at this time, the InVS has published a Weekly Epidemiological Bulletin dedicated to the vaccination schedule. The few changes to the 2012 vaccination schedule applicable in mainland France concern recommendations for vaccination against1:– seasonal influenza: pregnant women, regardless of the trimester of pregnancy, and obese individuals with a Body Mass Index of 40 kg/m² or higher have been added to the list of people eligible for this vaccination. In addition, a new vaccine (live attenuated) administered intranasally received marketing authorization (MA) in January 2011; it may be used in children and adolescents aged 24 months to 17 years who are eligible for seasonal influenza vaccination due to an underlying medical condition, with priority given during the first influenza vaccination, – invasive pneumococcal infections in at-risk individuals aged 5 years and older: the recommendation for revaccination is pending a reassessment, which will be the subject of a subsequent opinion from the High Committee on Public Health.
