COVID-19

In Week 7, SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation remains high but continues to decline rapidly. The incidence rate is 685 per 100,000 inhabitants, down 48% from the previous week (vs. -44% in Week 6). Incidence rates are declining across all age groups and in all departments. In Week 7, the highest incidence rates are in Cantal, Allier, Puy-de-Dôme, Haute-Loire, and Ardèche.

The number of new hospitalizations for COVID-19 decreased by 26%, and the number of admissions to intensive care units fell more sharply (-41% in Week 7). The total number of people hospitalized and receiving care in intensive care units for COVID-19 decreased by 14% over the course of one week.

Flu

8th epidemic week. During Week 07 (February 14–20, 2022), in inpatient care, according to data from the Oscour® network, hospital visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness are on the rise. In Week 7, 444 emergency department visits for influenza/influenza-like illness were recorded (+25% compared to Week 6), representing 1.1% of all visits across all age groups (0.8% in Week 6). Among these visits, 326 cases (73.4% vs. 72.4% in Week 06) were under 15 years of age, and 31 cases (8.9% vs. 8.6% in Week 06) were 65 years of age or older. Of the 444 visits, 51 were followed by hospitalization, representing a hospitalization rate of 11.5% for this diagnosis (8.9% for those under 15 and 54.8% for those aged 65 and older), a slight decrease compared to Week 06 (14.4%). Hospitalizations for influenza/influenza-like illness accounted for 0.7% of all hospitalizations in Week 07, stable compared to the previous week (0.6% in Week 06).
