Health Monitoring in Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes. Update as of August 11, 2017.
Highlights
A heat wave affected our region from Thursday, August 2, through Sunday morning, August 6, with 4 departments under an orange alert (Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Rhône) and 4 under a yellow alert (Ain, Loire, Savoie, and Haute-Savoie). Nationwide, a total of 15 departments were under an orange alert and 5 under a yellow alert. Between July 2 and 6, 30 heat-related SOS Médecins consultations were recorded in the region. In 50% of these cases, the patients were aged 75 and older, and in 30% of cases, they were adults aged 45–74. During the same period, 110 heat-related emergency room visits were recorded in the region. More than half of these visits involved people aged 75 and older. Of these, 78% were hospitalized. This is the third such heat wave of the season for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Given this situation, it is important to remain vigilant for the remainder of the summer.
