COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes as of June 17, 2021

Key Points

In Week 23 (W23), all COVID-19 epidemiological indicators continued to decline in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. There has been a significant decrease in viral circulation, which remains, however, higher than during the same period last year, against a backdrop of low-level circulation of variants of concern. With 1,319 people hospitalized and 171 patients in critical care units, the impact on hospitals is declining sharply. No excess mortality from all causes is currently observed at the regional or departmental level. COVID-19 vaccination coverage continues to increase in the region, with 46% of the population having received at least one dose of the vaccine and 25% having completed the full vaccination series as of June 15.
