COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes as of June 10, 2021

Key Points

In Week 22, all epidemiological indicators for COVID-19 are trending downward in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. There has been a marked decrease in viral circulation, which remains, however, higher than that observed during the same period in 2020, including the presence of variants of concern. Due to improved vaccination coverage, the incidence rate among those aged 65 and older (25/100,000) is significantly lower than the incidence rate across all age groups (65/100,000). Hospital pressure has decreased sharply since the peak of the third wave (-61% for hospitalizations and -66% for critical care units since mid-April). No significant excess mortality from all causes is currently observed at the regional or departmental level.
