COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes as of July 1, 2021

Key Points

In Week 25 (June 21–27, 2021), all COVID-19 epidemiological indicators continued to decline in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The decrease in viral circulation was less pronounced than in Week 24, while the frequency of the mutation carried by the Delta variant more than doubled in the region. With 820 people hospitalized and 105 patients in critical care units as of June 29, and a sharp decline in new hospitalizations, the impact on hospitals is significantly decreasing. No excess mortality from all causes was observed at the regional level in Week 24. While vaccination coverage continues to increase in the region, a slowdown in the pace of vaccination is being observed.
