Key Points

Influenza

  • A moderate-intensity epidemic comparable to the previous season, lasting 11 weeks (Week 50, 2023 to Week 8, 2024), with epidemic peaks in Weeks 4 and 5, 2024. Vaccination coverage was low and declining in 2023–2024 compared to the previous season.

Bronchiolitis

  • Moderate-intensity epidemic, lower than the previous season, lasting 8 weeks (W46-2023 to W03-2024), with an epidemic peak in W48/W49-2023. A total of 108 cases of bronchiolitis requiring hospitalization in intensive care were reported as part of a pilot surveillance program.

COVID-19

  • The 2023–2024 winter epidemic of SARS-CoV-2 infections, the intensity of which continued to decline compared to previous years, with a resurgence of transmission beginning in the spring of 2024. Vaccination coverage among those aged 65 and older was lower across the entire region.
