Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

During the month of August, the criteria for a return to normal have not yet been met for the Kourou and Cayenne Island sectors, which remain in Phase 4 of the Psage "epidemic" classification. Outbreaks have been identified in the western sector (Awala), where the epidemiological situation still corresponds to Phase 2 of the Psage "epidemic outbreaks." The situation continues to improve in the inland municipalities, with a continued decline in the number of reported cases. Serotypes DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4 are co-circulating, with a strong predominance of serotype DEN-2. Given the overall epidemiological situation, it is important to emphasize the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding sites and taking individual precautions against mosquitoes. In the event of sudden onset of fever, it is recommended to consult your primary care physician.
