Public Health Bulletin on HIV and STIs in Martinique. December 2021.
Key points
HIV/AIDS
Participation in the LaboVIH survey was 100% in 2020; Martinique is among the regions of France with the highest rates of HIV testing and laboratory positivity rates (LaboVIH Survey). Positive serology rates in the territory have remained stable in recent years, in contrast to the general decline observed in other metropolitan regions;
Estimates of the completeness of HIV diagnosis for Martinique in 2019 and 2020 are currently being finalized;
Heterosexual intercourse remains the primary mode of transmission (55%), with a proportion of MSM (42%) comparable to previous years; note a significant increase in HIV cases among individuals born abroad, regardless of sexual orientation, in 2020 compared to previous years
In 2020, 25% of HIV infections were detected at an advanced stage of infection, which represents a missed opportunity in terms of individual care and a risk of HIV transmission to partners before the start of antiretroviral treatment.
Electronic reporting improves the completeness and timeliness of case reports. In Martinique, the proportion of online reports was 98% in 2020

In 2020, regardless of the STI, a decline in the screening rate (for both men and women) was observed in Martinique as well as at the national level (-6%).

Gonococcal infections: 64.6 per 1,000 inhabitants, a rate higher than that observed in France (38.9)
