Epidemiological Situation of Malaria in French Guiana. Update as of October 15, 2013.
Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation
During the third quarter of 2013, malaria activity remained generally very low in the department. However, an increase in activity was observed at the Maripasoula District Health Center: most malaria cases were linked to stays in high-risk areas (river, gold panning, forest), but malaria transmission was also detected in the Abdallah village and Djakarta neighborhood areas. It should be noted that a new transmission zone on the coast has been identified in the Zénith neighborhood of Matoury.
