Epidemiological Situation of Malaria in French Guiana. Update as of July 17, 2013.

Analysis of the Epidemiological Situation

During the second quarter of 2013, the downward trend in malaria activity already observed during the first three months of the year continued. Isolated increases were observed, particularly in the municipality of Maripasoula, and are linked to stays in high-risk areas (river, gold panning). It should be noted that localized outbreaks of infection persist in the municipalities of Matoury, Macouria, and Régina.
