Epidemiological Situation of Dengue Fever in Guadeloupe. Update as of August 22, 2013.

Situation Analysis

All epidemiological surveillance indicators point to the epidemic continuing. However, the level of viral circulation appears to have stabilized since early August, with some indicators even showing a slight decline. No particular severity associated with this epidemic has been observed to date. The predominance of DENV-4, observed in June and July, continues in August. This serotype had not circulated in Guadeloupe for several years. The situation corresponds to Phase 4 Level 1 of the Psage Dengue* (confirmed epidemic). Given the epidemiological situation, it is important to reiterate the importance of eliminating larval breeding sites and protecting oneself against mosquitoes. In the event of sudden onset of fever, it is recommended to consult your primary care physician.
