Epidemiological Situation of Bronchiolitis in Guadeloupe. Update as of December 31, 2014.

Situation Analysis

The number of general practice visits for bronchiolitis has exceeded the expected seasonal peak for 11 weeks (2014-41). The number of emergency department visits for bronchiolitis is decreasing at both the Pointe-à-Pitre University Hospital and the CHBT. The positivity rate for laboratory-confirmed RSV cases is declining.A decline in the bronchiolitis epidemic appears to be beginning in Guadeloupe; however, the data will need to be consolidated over the next two weeks due to school holidays and the absence of several sentinel physicians. It is important to reiterate and disseminate as widely as possible the recommendations aimed at limiting virus transmission and ensuring appropriate care for infants.
