Dengue Surveillance in the Caribbean. Update as of July 6, 2017.

Summary

The epidemiological situation regarding the circulation of the dengue virus (flavivirus) is currently stable in the French West Indies. A confirmed case of dengue (serotype DEN-2) detected by RT-PCR was diagnosed on July 5, 2017, by the laboratory at the Martinique University Hospital. This is an imported case. Investigations and management measures related to the case are underway. A probable case of severe dengue in Saint-Barthélemy is currently hospitalized at the Pointe-à-Pitre University Hospital. This case is awaiting laboratory confirmation. Several probable autochthonous cases have been identified across the four territories, likely indicating "low-level" circulation.
