COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of October 8, 2021

Key Points

  • The decline in the epidemic continued for the seventh consecutive week, leading to reduced pressure on hospitals. Martinique remains in Phase 3, “epidemic.”

  • Positivity and incidence rates were declining despite a slight increase in testing. The age group with the highest incidence remained 15–44 years old, particularly those aged 20–29. The effective reproduction number (Rt), calculated from SI-DEP data for samples collected between September 26 and October 2, was 0.78 [0.72–0.86], significantly below 1, reflecting the decline of the epidemic. In hospitals, the number of admissions across all departments was decreasing, as was the number of deaths.
