COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of May 19, 2022

  • Viral circulation continues to intensify in S19. Virological indicators continued to rise, yet no major impact on hospital admissions was recorded.

  • Incidence and positivity rates increased by 45% and 3.3 percentage points, respectively, against a backdrop of rising testing rates (+28%). The 40–49 age group recorded the highest incidence rate. The 7-day rolling effective R (May 8–14) was 1.37—95% CI [1.33–1.41], significantly higher than 1. The number of school clusters continued to rise: as of May 16, 2022, 58 clusters were under investigation versus 40 in Week 18.

  • In hospitals, the number of visits to adult emergency departments increased slightly, whereas the number of new admissions decreased in week 2022-19. The number of new admissions to intensive care units and new deaths remained stable compared to the previous week.
