COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique as of February 10, 2022

Key Points

In Martinique, a gradual slowdown in the epidemic was still observed in week S05. However, SARS-CoV-2 circulation remained at a high level. Over the past three weeks, the decline in the incidence rate has occurred in parallel with a decrease in the testing rate. The positivity rate remained constant and above the alert threshold during this period. The effective reproduction number (R_e) calculated from data reported in SI-DEP for samples collected between January 30 and February 5, 2022, was 0.90 [0.88–0.92], significantly below 1, confirming the decline of the epidemic over this seven-day rolling period. The 0–14 and 15–44 age groups continued to record the highest incidence rates. In hospitals, the number of new hospitalizations across all departments was also decreasing. However, hospital pressure remains high, with the number of deaths stabilizing in week 2022-05.
