COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Martinique, December 9, 2021

Key Points

Data for week 2021-48 should be interpreted with great caution due to the major social unrest that was still affecting Martinique and Guadeloupe. Access to outpatient care was the most significantly impacted. Nevertheless, despite a sharp decline in testing rates in week 48 compared to those observed before the social crisis in week 46 (-34%), there was still an increase in incidence and positivity rates, indicating active circulation of the virus in the region. This trend is confirmed by the hospital situation, where there was an increase in the number of new admissions across all departments and in intensive care.
