COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of March 12, 2021
Key points
Guadeloupe
Surveillance indicators stabilized at a high level last week. The incidence rate remained above the alert threshold and the positivity rate above the vigilance threshold. An increase in the number of clusters with a significant number of positive cases has been observed at the start of this week. As of March 12, the effective reproduction number (R_e) calculated from SI-DEP data over the past 7 days was not significantly below 1: 0.92 [0.82–1.01].
In week 2021-09, the proportion of the UK variant (20I/501Y.V1) was greater than 75%, and that of the South African or Brazilian variants (20H/501Y.V2 or 20J/501Y.V3) was less than 1% among screened PCR-positive cases. Regarding vaccination, the data entered into the Covid Vaccine Information System regarding the number of vaccines actually administered is too low to be displayed.
Saint Barthélemy
Virological surveillance indicators have been stable over the past three weeks. An increase in consultations for suspected Covid-19 in private practice or at the hospital was observed last week. Active circulation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is clearly present on the island, with low-level local transmission of the English variant (20I/501Y.V1). Vigilance must remain high in the coming weeks. Regarding vaccination, the actual data entered into the Vaccin Covid information system is too low to be displayed.
Saint Martin
Surveillance indicators have stabilized over the past two weeks. Levels correspond to those recorded at the end of 2020. Isolated cases of the English variant (20I/501Y.V1) and the South African or Brazilian variant (20H/501Y.V2 or 20J/501Y.V3) were detected via RT-PCR screening tests last week. Regarding vaccination, the actual data entered into the Vaccin Covid information system is too low to be displayed.
