Impact of the September 21, 2001, explosion at the "AZF" factory on the mental health of Toulouse students aged 11 to 17.

Among the many buildings damaged by the explosion on September 21, 2001, about 100 schools were affected, including five that were completely destroyed and about 30 that required extensive repairs lasting six months. In the schools closest to the site, many students were injured, and one high school student died as a result of the explosion. Children and adolescents attending school in the vicinity are a population that is particularly vulnerable in two ways: in their school life and in their family life. A series of studies was conducted to assess the medium-term material and physical consequences of this industrial disaster on school-age children, as well as the prevalence of psychological disorders, particularly post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
