Locally Acquired Cases

• In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, on September 23, 2026, 68 locally acquired cases of chikungunya, spread across eleven transmission clusters, were identified in the Gironde department (9 clusters) and in the Landes department (1 cluster). With the exception of the first case, all identified cases began exhibiting symptoms on or after July 20, 2026. Of these outbreaks, nine are still active, and the number of cases is changing. Additionally, one locally acquired case of dengue was identified in Dordogne; that outbreak has been closed.

Imported Cases

• From May 1 to September 23, 2026, 22 imported cases of chikungunya—probable or confirmed—were identified in Nouvelle-Aquitaine (compared to 148 last year as of September 15, 2025).
• From May 1 to September 23, 2026, 38 imported cases of dengue—probable or confirmed—were identified in Nouvelle-Aquitaine (compared to 115 last year as of September 15, 2025).
• No imported cases of Zika have been identified in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
