Key Points

Bronchiolitis in Children Under 1 Year of Age

  • Bronchiolitis indicators had been trending upward since early September, both in the community and in hospitals, but remained at levels typically observed at this time of year. Virology data indicated low circulation of RSV in the region. However, other viruses capable of causing bronchiolitis are currently circulating, such as rhinoviruses and enteroviruses.

Flu-like Illnesses

  • All influenza indicators remained at baseline levels in week 42, with few detections of influenza virus according to virology data.

COVID-19

  • COVID-19 indicators have been on the rise in both community-based medical practice and hospitals since Week 35, though levels remain significantly lower than those observed during the same period in the past two years. Virology data also indicated an increase in SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation over the past four weeks, as did wastewater surveillance.

Acute Gastroenteritis

  • Indicators for acute gastroenteritis remained within the usual range of variation.
