Key Points

• Since late January (Week 04), 1,222 cases of chikungunya have been laboratory-confirmed in French Guiana, including 20 in Week 29 (unconsolidated data). The virus continues to circulate actively throughout the territory:
• Western Coast: Although the virus is actively circulating in the area, there has been a decrease in the number of emergency room visits at CHOG. However, this trend must be confirmed in the coming weeks. The Western Coast remains in an epidemic phase.
• Savanes: The number of emergency room visits for suspected chikungunya has risen sharply at CHK. The epidemic is intensifying in this sector.
• Cayenne Island: Confirmed cases continue to be identified. While one outbreak has subsided in one municipality, two new outbreaks have been identified in another. Additionally, nine outbreaks are currently being monitored. The area remains in the outbreak phase.
• Maroni: No cases have been confirmed, and no patient visits due to chikungunya have been recorded at the CDPSs. The sector remains in the sporadic transmission phase.
• Interior, Eastern Interior, and Oyapock: No confirmed cases have been recorded in these sectors, which are in the epidemiological surveillance phase.
