Dengue

Dengue activity is low throughout the country. One case was confirmed last week (Week 32). Since the beginning of the year, 12 cases of dengue have been laboratory-confirmed.

Chikungunya

Since late January (Week 04), 1,507 cases of chikungunya have been laboratory-confirmed in French Guiana, including 59 in Week 32 (unconsolidated data). The virus is actively circulating in the territory:

• Western Coast: The number of visits to the CHOG emergency department for suspected chikungunya remained stable at a moderate level. The virus is circulating in this area, which is experiencing an epidemic.
• Savanes: The number of visits to the CHK emergency department for suspected chikungunya remained stable at a high level. The epidemic continues in this sector.
• Cayenne Island: A slight increase in the number of confirmed cases was recorded, and in S32, 8 active outbreaks were being monitored, spread across the sector’s three municipalities. Cayenne Island is in the outbreak phase.
• Maroni: Cases continued to be biologically confirmed in this sector, which is in the sporadic transmission phase.
• Interior, Eastern Interior, and Oyapock: One probable case was reported in Week 31 in the Interior sector, and one case was confirmed in the Oyapock sector in Week 32. Since both of these cases had traveled to areas with active virus circulation in the days leading up to the onset of their symptoms, these sectors remain in the epidemiological surveillance phase.
