  • According to Météo France, on Monday, August 10, 2026, the Cher department was placed under an orange heat wave alert, followed the next day by the Indre, Indre-et-Loire, and Loir-et-Cher departments. On Wednesday, August 12, all departments in the region were placed under an orange heat wave alert.
    On Sunday, August 16, at 6:00 a.m., the orange alert was lifted for all departments in the region.
  • In hospital emergency rooms, activity during the heatwave, as measured by the iCanicule indicator, was similar to that of the preceding three weeks—a period without an orange heatwave alert.
  • At the SOS Médecins organizations (Bourges and Orléans), activity based on the iCanicule
    indicator remained very low during the heatwave.
  • The trends in the monitored indicators were consistent across all departments.
