From November 1 to 30, 2025, Tobacco-Free Month returns for its 10th edition. This major collective challenge to quit smoking, led by the Ministry of Health and Access to Healthcare and Santé publique France in partnership with the French Health Insurance System, encourages smokers to quit for 30 days. Smokers can register on the Tobacco-Free Month website now to receive free, personalized support.
A must-attend event for tobacco prevention
In November 2025, Tobacco-Free Month will celebrate its 10th anniversary. A flagship event in the fight against tobacco use, Tobacco-Free Month is an integral part of the addiction prevention strategy implemented by Santé publique France, alongside estimates of usage levels based on large-scale surveys of the general population and remote support services (39 89, the Tabac Info Service app, and website). The campaign has repeatedly proven its effectiveness1. Since its launch in 2016, more than 1.4 million online registrations have been recorded on the website, and it is estimated that twice as many people have attempted to quit smoking in connection with Tobacco-Free Month. This event is now firmly marked on smokers’ calendars: nearly 134,000 of them registered for the campaign in 2024.
A unifying concept for this 10th edition
For its tenth edition, Smoke-Free Month 2025 is launching a brand-new campaign with a unified, supportive message: “Participating in Smoke-Free Month increases your chances of becoming an ex-smoker.” The new campaign highlights the journey toward quitting. Though fraught with difficulties, it is also a source of pride for the ex-smoker. With this tone, the campaign invites smokers, regardless of their background, to take on the collective Tobacco-Free Month challenge, while also reminding them that after 30 days without tobacco, the chances of quitting increase fivefold.
The campaign highlights the resources available to support quitting, including the Tabac Info Service, the smoking cessation kit, and access to healthcare professionals, through messages broadcast across various channels (TV, radio, digital, billboards, etc.).
The campaign continues to emphasize:
Mutual support and community: through challenges shared on social media (#MoisSansTabac), local support groups, and testimonials from former smokers.
Accessibility: by tailoring messages to different audiences (youth, seniors, vulnerable populations) and strengthening digital tools for personalized support.
Local engagement: with numerous local and national events throughout the campaign.
The powerful and diverse media campaign includes:
TV spots and online videos (15 and 30 seconds) airing from October 1 to November 4, targeting 25- to 49-year-olds;
Radio and digital audio spots (podcasts, web radio, streaming) airing from October 29 to November 30, targeting 25- to 59-year-olds;
Posters in shopping malls, local stores, train stations, gas stations, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities;
Social media posts (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat).
Special campaign with the M6 Group
For the third consecutive year, Tobacco-Free Month is continuing its partnership with the M6 Group and its flagship program, “France’s Got Talent.” Through several TV spots, host Eric Antoine will encourage smokers to participate in Mois sans tabac, discover smoking cessation tools, and seek help from a healthcare professional to overcome challenges during withdrawal.
An increasingly dynamic partnership platform
In 2025, we’ll celebrate the 10th edition of Tobacco-Free Month! An event focused on prevention and public health that has become a must-attend. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate the thousands of former smokers who have participated in the initiative since its launch in 2016 and to acknowledge the commitment of our partners and healthcare professionals. “All together,” as the spirit of this campaign calls for, we are taking action to build a tobacco-free future. Signing up for Tobacco-Free Month means joining a collective journey with strong support and putting all the odds of success in your favor
Every year, thousands of partners—institutions, associations, local governments, businesses, and healthcare professionals—promote the initiative throughout France. They are supported at the regional level by the ARS and the Tobacco-Free Month Ambassadors (PDF, 383.8 kB).
In 2025, Tobacco-Free Month will further strengthen the provision of tools for partners and the promotion of their initiatives to the general public, notably through a calendar of local initiatives.
We all deal with the urge to smoke differently, but we’re all in this together to quit
To support smokers in their efforts to quit, Mois sans tabac relies on tools available for free through Tabac info service, a major resource for smoking cessation support, which includes:
The website tabac-info-service.fr, which offers a wealth of helpful content and support tools (connecting you with a tobacco specialist, testimonials, Q&As, etc.);
The 39 89 helpline, Tabac info service’s remote support number (a “non-premium-rate” number available Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.), which connects callers with a tobacco specialist and offers free follow-up support. Since May 31, 2023, 39 89 has been accessible to deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals via the Acceo platform.
The Tabac Info Service e-coaching app, developed by the French National Health Insurance in partnership with Santé publique France and with the support of the Francophone Society of Tobacco Control, which offers a personalized e-coaching program to maximize the chances of quitting smoking.
