Waste-to-energy plants. A cancer risk for nearby residents?

Exposure to municipal waste incinerators in the 1970s and 1980s, when emissions were high, is linked to an increased incidence of certain cancers in the 1990s, but a causal relationship cannot be demonstrated. A study by the InVS, whose results cannot be applied to the current period, thus confirms the importance of controlling pollutant emissions and does not support screening and monitoring individuals who were previously exposed.
