The qualitative socio-anthropological analysis in the Abena study sought to describe and analyze in depth the relationship between food aid and the living conditions of those who rely on it. One of the objectives of this study is to account for the effects of social structures on food organization and behaviors, in order to better understand how food aid is utilized and thereby complement the epidemiological approach conducted in parallel. The objective of this article is to explore the hypothesis regarding the structuring role of social ties (family, friends, institutions, etc.) to understand the place of food aid in the household economy and the influence of these ties on food procurement strategies.
