A Study of Conversations Between Callers and a Suicide Prevention Organization.
A team of researchers, supported by INPES, analyzed thousands of emails sent to a suicide prevention organization. The organization, referred to here as “Association Y,” had set up an online listening and counseling service. Poignant testimonies “put into words” the suffering and reveal a range of emotions, from feelings of rejection to a sense of being abnormal: even when surrounded by others, some feel lonely because their social relationships are too superficial; others feel as though no one sees them, as though they are invisible, and thus experience contempt and indifference.
