Monitoring work-related musculoskeletal disorders in Quebec.

Epidemiological surveillance of work-related musculoskeletal disorders is currently being developed in Quebec. Since 2001, the Scientific Group on Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders at the Institut national de santé publique du Québec has been conducting epidemiological surveillance and research to determine the extent of the problem, track its evolution, and identify the groups of workers most at risk for MSDs who can be targeted for prevention interventions. These surveillance activities are part of a broader context and strategic direction regarding the monitoring of the population’s health status and the prevention of work-related MSDs. They include the development and analysis of health and working conditions surveys, the analysis of workers’ compensation data, and the development of tools for active surveillance of MSDs. (R.A.)
