Asthma Surveillance. Weekly Update for October 9, 2018.

Key Points - Week 40 (October 1–7, 2018)

  • Nationwide, five weeks after the start of the school year, asthma-related visits among children are on the rise in the SOS Médecins network (+9.5%) and stable in emergency departments. In emergency departments, the proportion of hospitalizations following asthma-related visits is stable compared to last week. In both networks, activity is higher than in the previous two years.

  • In the Indian Ocean, seven weeks after the start of the school year, emergency room visits for asthma among children are stable. The number of hospitalizations following visits has decreased sharply.
