Week 33 (August 15–21, 2022):

• In the Indian Ocean region, during the first week of the new school year in Réunion, the number of emergency department visits for asthma and the proportion of cases among children under 15 years of age increased slightly compared to the previous week (65 visits vs. 46 in Week 32 and 5.8% of cases vs. 4.4% in Week 32). The proportion of cases remains comparable to levels in previous years (Table 1 and Figure 1). The proportion of hospitalizations following emergency department visits has decreased from 30% in Week 32 to 23% in Week 33.

• Nationally, two weeks before the start of the school year in mainland France, emergency department visits and SOS Médecins calls for asthma among children under 15 have decreased slightly.
