Week 36 (September 6–12, 2021):

• In the Indian Ocean region, during the fourth week of the new school year in Réunion, the number of emergency department visits for asthma among children under 15 years of age, as well as their share of total activity, are down (38 visits and 3.7% in Week 36 vs. 63 visits and 5.9% in Week 35). The observed level is lower than that of the previous three years (2017, 2018, and 2019) during the same period. The proportion of hospitalizations following emergency department visits has decreased to 24%.

• Nationally, during the second week of school in mainland France, emergency room visits for asthma among children under 15 are up (+150%, or +1,1147 visits) as well as in the SOS Médecins network (+94%, or +188 cases). The increases observed so far remain comparable to those of the past three years.
