Ebola Virus – Epidemiological Update for West Africa as of October 20, 2014.
Highlights
A total of 9,212 cases (suspected, probable, and confirmed) and 4,554 deaths (case fatality rate of 49.4%) have been reported by the WHO in five West African countries (Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, and Senegal).
Since the last issue of the Epidemiological Update, Sierra Leone has reported 460 new cases, Liberia 186, and Guinea 169 new cases.
On October 17, 2014, the WHO officially declared the end of the epidemic in Senegal.
On October 20, 2014, the WHO officially declared the end of the epidemic in Nigeria.
