Santé publique France is launching the first national campaign to raise consumer awareness of Nutri-Score
Santé publique France is launching the first public awareness campaign aimed at familiarizing consumers with the official Nutri-Score nutritional labeling system. Through this campaign, public authorities—supported by more than 50 companies already committed to the initiative, consumer associations, healthcare professionals, and the scientific community in France—are sending a strong message to manufacturers and retailers urging them to join this transparency initiative, with the goal of improving the health of the entire population.
"It's just a logo. But soon, this logo will help us choose what we eat every day."
From May 7 to 27, 2018, Santé publique France is running a national campaign to promote Nutri-Score (a registered trademark of Santé publique France). The campaign features a 30-second video currently airing on television and online. Using an educational tone and an illustrative approach, the goal is to promote this innovative tool for consumers as widely as possible, so they can recognize it immediately when they see it in stores or online.
Why support Nutri-Score?
Through this campaign, public authorities are reminding the public that Nutri-Score is the official nutritional labeling system recommended in France. Concise, understandable, and scientifically based, it provides consumers with immediate information on the nutritional quality of the products they purchase. In accordance with European legislation, its use is optional and relies on companies’ voluntary participation. Its widespread adoption would be a significant step toward improving the French diet—and, consequently, the health of the French population.
The first Nutri-Score products are appearing on store shelves
Products displaying the Nutri-Score will gradually appear on store shelves. To date, more than 50 companies have committed to displaying the logo on their products by 2019. Among them, brands such as Fleury Michon, McCain, Weight Watchers, Bonduelle, Intermarché, Auchan, and Leclerc Drive are already displaying the Nutri-Score on several of their packages on store shelves and online.
