Public Health France 2023 Barometer: Launch of the Survey
On February 14, Santé publique France launched the 14th edition of its "Health Barometers" survey, conducted in mainland France among a representative sample of 15,000 people aged 18 to 85.
Public Health France Barometers
The Barometers: a survey tracking French people’s behaviors to guide public health and public awareness policies.
Since 1992, Santé publique France’s Public Health Barometers have provided valuable insights into the opinions, knowledge, and habits of the French public regarding their health. They thus help to combat disease more effectively and improve screening and care for those affected.
How is the survey conducted?
The Santé publique France Barometer is based on telephone surveys of representative samples of the population. The survey is conducted by the polling firm Ipsos.
People are contacted via randomly dialed phone numbers and are asked to complete a questionnaire that takes an average of 30 minutes. Only one person per household is interviewed.
Why is it important that every selected person agrees to participate?
This is one of the largest national surveys, covering more than thirty topics such as smoking, nutrition, well-being, sleep, living conditions, and vaccination practices.
It provides a better understanding of the opinions, habits, and health status of the population residing in France, and aims to guide public health prevention and information policies. Those contacted are invited to complete a questionnaire in 2023 that takes an average of 30 minutes.
To ensure that the data collected best reflects the perceptions and habits of all people living in metropolitan France, it is very important that every selected individual agrees to participate. All age groups, all regions, and all life situations are included.
Santé publique France would therefore like to thank in advance all those contacted by Ipsos as part of this survey for their cooperation and the time they agree to devote to the survey. The data obtained will be invaluable for research and prevention.
The initial results of this study will be released in 2024.
